My Narrative therapy room : They say the media we consume shapes us, but as a psychologist and researcher, I’ve realized it goes much deeper than that. 🧠✨ This picture is a pretty accurate snapshot of my brain right now: sitting at my desk, deep into my PhD research, but completely surrounded and supported by the anime legends that helped raise me. 🍥🏴☠️🍎 Growing up, anime wasn't just entertainment; it was my first introduction to the power of Narrative Therapy before I even knew the clinical term. In my PhD journey, I’ve come to deeply appreciate how the stories we attach ourselves to become the frameworks for how we survive, adapt, and grow. Every character in this room has left a fingerprint on my psyche and my professional work: 🍜 Naruto- taught me the true psychology of resilience. His story is a masterclass in overcoming childhood isolation, trauma recovery, and the radical, stubborn belief in oneself. 🏴☠️ One Piece- is the ultimate study in group dynamics and human connection. Watching the Straw Hats taught me how wildly different—and deeply flawed—personalities can perfectly complement each other to build an unbreakable support system. 📓 Death Note- introduced me early on to moral ambiguity, the shadow self, and the intense complexities of human cognition and justice. Research Update: As a educational mental health professional looking into how adolescents navigate the digital world, I constantly reflect on how on-screen narratives can be profound tools for healing and identity-building. The media youth consume isn't just "screen time"—often, it's where they find their strength, just like I did. These stories shaped me growing up, and they continue to anchor me today as I navigate the rigorous world of research and practice. What fictional story or character has had the biggest impact on your real-world perspective?
